She is loves to paint and spends a bit of her time continuing her education in the ways to create beauty in her art. Karen Flores - Parish Secretary
Karen was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. She has been an Okie now for 40 years, just long enough to have added “y’all” and “reckon” to her everyday vocabulary. She been at St. Charles as a parishioner and choir member for 12 years, and on staff here as Parish Secretary since July 2002. She is the mother of two grown children, her son, Jim, and his wife, along with her two most beautiful grandchildren (please ask to see their picture if you happen to be in her office – you’ll see I’m right) live in Ohio. Karen’s daughter Vicki lives in Piedmont, OK. Dexter, a venerable Weimaraner puppy of 12 years, warms her home and hearth. When not singing in St. Charles choir, she is singing barbershop with the OK City Chorus chapter of Sweet Adelines International. One of her recent interests is in making wire-wrapped jewelry, and “I’m still searching for the dividing line between “big and bold” and just plain “gaudy”.”

Margaret Phipps - Pastoral Associate
Margaret, her husband J.B. and three daughters have been members of St. Charles for over 30 years and the girls all went to our parish school. She grew up here in Oklahoma City and her family was charter members of St. Patrick’s parish. She and her extended family live for summer in White Pine Colorado, where they have been going since she was 16 years old. She began her ministry here at St. Charles in June of 1985. Quite a few of our parish volunteer’s work in one of the areas she finds and trains coordinators and assist the coordinators in facilitating the program/ministry. Any programs that assist individuals like; Blood Drives, the Dorothy Day Center, St. Charles Free Clinic, Funeral Dinners, Holiday Programs, Mobile Meals, RAIN Team and St. Vincent de Paul all fall under Social Ministry, also Coffee & Donuts and Parish Activities. Stewardship is another primary area of focus for her. This area would include coordination of volunteer and financial drives and of fundraising for all groups. Margaret wants to make it clear that she spends most of her time assisting others do “their ministry". Nothing would happen here without all the wonderful coordinators and volunteers who make it happen. It doesn’t matter if you are sweeping the floor or serving on one of our boards, each role is important to provide for the Kingdom of God.”

Margaret Hochla - Music and MinistryMargaret Hochla is Director of Music and Liturgy here at St Charles Borromeo. The Vatican II document on the Sacred Liturgy, SACROSANCTUM CONCILIUM, reminds us that

... the liturgy is the summit toward which the activity of the Church is directed; at the same time it is the font from which all her power flows.

Margaret is tasked with fostering connections from the liturgy to our lives "in the world." This work continues at St Charles through shared devotions, meals and other offerings of service and fellowship that flow from the worship of God in Spirit and Truth. Margaret works along with the priests , deacons, and others in ministry formation and training. Margaret is also part of the pastoral team seeking to facilitate greater efforts in evangelization of the unchurched and in providing a variety of formation and education experiences for adults through the "Growing the Faith of Grown-ups" programs. Margaret Hochla facilitates the Stewardship of Time and Talent initiatives where parishioners take an increasingly active role in developing and nurturing this vision of discipleship.

Margaret has served other parishes in the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City as Director of Religious Education, RCIA Director, Youth Minister, Director of Music and Liturgy, Adult Education Director, Facilities Scheduler and Coordinator.
